Infestation can lead to disease
A cockroach infestation on your premises can lead to the spread of diseases. A cockroach can carry disease organisms such as Salmonella (food poisoning) and Escherichia coli which can be spread through saliva and excreta.
Cockroaches must moult regularly throughout their life-cycle. The discarded skin becomes airborne and can cause severe asthmatic reactions, particularly to children, the elderly and people with bronchial ailments.
WHERE TO FIND COCKROACHES
Usually nocturnal, cockroaches spend the day hiding in cracks and crevices around such areas as sinks, drains, cookers, the backs of cupboards and in refrigerator motor compartments.
Cockroaches will eat almost any organic matter no matter how rancid. Once inside the home, they will seek out food, scraps, unsealed food containers, sugar and grease deposits, pet food, rancid meat, glue and even book bindings, they also eat each others fecces. They rest during daylight hours in dark warm secure areas in your home, such as wall cavities, the sub-floor, roof void, cracks and crevices in the kitchen and bathroom, electrical appliances and foodstuffs.
They will emerge from these harbourages in the still of night, and if you see cockroaches during the day, you have a heavy infestation and a serious cockroach control problem.
